Weber Sportcars 'Faster One' Supercar Now Available

Weber Sportcars from Tobel, Switzerland has come out with what they call as the world's fastest street legal sports car. Named 'Faster One' the car is one hell of a lightweight licensed beast. We called it lightweight as this mid-engine two-seat racer weighs just 1100 kg (2425 pounds). It can be yours for 1.6 million Swiss francs ($ 1,553,500 or £ 783,400)

Faster One is powered by a 7.0L supercharged V8 that churn out 900 hp / 662.4 kW at 7,000 rpm and produces a peak torque of 1,050 Nm at 3,900 rpm. It comes with semi-automatic sequential six-speed gearbox which is operated via shift paddles on the steering wheel. Weber states that its Faster One has a top-speed of over 261 mph (420 km/h) and can do 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.7 seconds; 0-124 (0-200 km/h) in 6.6 seconds and takes only 16.2 seconds to do 188 mph (302 kmh).

For better aerodynamic the super sportscar features doors with push button rather than that external door handles. Integrated into the roof is an airbox that supplies the engine with its intake air. The electronically controlled deployable rear wing not only creates downforce but also serves as an air brake.

The buttons on the steering wheel give the driver the option to select different mappings to adjust power output and throttle response to the specific driving situation. Weber Sportcars produced its own 12-piston fixed calipers that viciously grab vented ceramic disc brakes measuring 380 x 34 millimeters on front and rear axle. These brakes can bring the two-seater to a stop from 100 km/h in short 30 meters or so.

Among the comfort features present are power steering, climate control system, power windows and a sound system with integrated navigation system. A rearview camera facilitates maneuvering in reverse.

Redesigned 2008 Ford Focus ST For UK Photos

The updated version of new Focus ST performance hatch was released yesterday by Ford UK. Focus will go on sale from May 1 at dealerships across Great Britain. Created by Ford TeamRS, the company's dedicated performance vehicle arm, the 2008 Focus ST benefits from the new exterior and interior styling changes introduced across the rest of the Focus line-up earlier this year.

Every Focus ST now boasts 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, sports styling, body-hugging Recaro sports seats, a unique sports steering wheel and upgraded instrumentation. New to this generation of ST are the 'Ford Power' starter button and Easyfuel capless refuelling system. Upgrading to ST-2 adds a Sony audio system, bi-xenon lights, LED rear lights and Quickclear heated windscreen while the ST-3 includes an in-dash six CD player plus full leather trim.

New Euro Ford Focus ST is powered by 225 PS, 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder Duratec engine. And comes with the potential of 150mph top speed in tandem with 0-62mph acceleration in just 6.8 seconds. Among the list of available high-tech options is a Tyre Deflation Detection System, a new audio connectivity module for external devices like Bluetooth, voice control and navigation systems plus various infotainment options including an affordable sat nav system with SD card slot.

The Focus ST range retains ST, ST-2 and ST-3 trim grades and three or five-door hatchback bodystyles. It is priced from £18,250 - £20,850.

All this and more only for Ford's UK customers. But Ford has already promised that next generation of Focus will be a global car and same will be launched in US, Europe and other markets. The redesigned Focus is set to debut sometime in 2010 or 2011 and will be built on the superior C1 platform

2009 Ford Flex SUV Specs, Features & Photos

The hit concept vehicle of 2005 - the Fairlane Concept - achieves production reality in the all new 09 Ford Flex mid-sized crossover. Based on the Fairlane Concept, the 2009 Flex joins the Edge and Taurus X in Ford's utility vehicle lineup as a full size crossover, seating six or seven depending on seat configuration and with enough flexibility to accommodate a variety of passenger and cargo needs.

Flex Suv (or is it a wagon?) is powered by Ford's 3.5-liter V-6 mated to a fuel-efficient 6-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain delivers 262 hp horsepower at 6250 rpm and 248 lb.-ft. of torque at 4500 rpm with fuel economy numbers on par with other full-size crossovers. Flex also offers optional intelligent all-wheel drive. The 2009 Ford Flex goes on sale in summer 2008. It will be manufactured at Ford's Oakville Assembly Complex in Ontario, Canada.

The exterior of next generation Flex carries over the concept's upright stance, strong shoulders and prominent wheel arches as well as the distinctive machined character lines on the side panels. Designers maximized the vehicle's width and integrated the rocker panels into the doors to eliminate the need to step over the rockers when entering the vehicle.

Inside, the Ford Flex features modern materials and soft panels on touch points. The instrument panel is set low to provide optimal visibility to people in the front's captain's chairs. The second row of seats comes in either a 60/40 split second row bench, or captain's chairs with a walkthrough aisle or an optional second row storage console. Second row seats fold and tumble or fold flat for added cargo space.

Third row options include a single bench or 50/50 split bench which can fold flat for additional cargo. For hauling cargo, an optional power liftgate accommodates items up to four-feet wide resting on the third row armrests.

The Flex brings innovative options to the market like a console mounted refrigerator and multi-panel vista roof. The refrigerator is compressor-driven, meaning that unlike the competition it not only keeps contents cold, but can actually cool down warm beverages.

The vista roof is divided into three specific areas - a traditional power moonroof for front seat passengers, two individual openings over each second row seat and one large opening over the third row.

Technology highlights include programmable ambient lighting, Ford's next-generation navigation system and the Ford Sync hands-free communications system.

Ford's exclusive second-generation keypad system debuts on the Flex, giving passengers the ability to unlock the doors, disarm the alarm system and disable auto-lock functions by entering a five-digit code. Flex also features Ford's new capless fuel filler technology that seals the opening until the fuel pump nozzle is inserted.

The 2009 Flex's chassis was engineered to deliver a quiet car-like ride while at the same time offering towing capacity up to 4,150 pounds. Interior noise is minimized with sound deadening materials like a six-millimeter thick windshield.
