Audi has officially launched the new Audi TTS in a Coupe and Roadster variant for the European market. The TT-S is powered by a a 2.0-litre Turbo FSI petrol engine delivering 272hp and 350 Nm of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm with an S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. The top speed of the 2009 Audi TTS Coupe is limited to 155 mph with fuel consumption of 29.7 mpg and it reaches from zero to 62mph in just 5.2 seconds.
In comparison the 09 model TTS Roadster accelerates to 62mph in 5.6 seconds and has same top speed as of coupe version. Audi rates the Roadster's fuel efficiency at 29.3 mpg. Audi TT-S Coupe comes with a base price tag of €44,900 and the Roadster version can be bought for €47,750.
Later this year US will also get the new 2009 model Audi TTS as a 2+2 seater coupe and as a roadster. Sole engine for the American market is the 265-horsepower 2.0-liter TFSI with 258 lb-ft of torque. Audi's S-Tronic transmission (also known as the direct-shift gearbox) and Quattro all-wheel-drive are standard. Audi states 4.9 seconds as the 0-60-mph acceleration time for the coupe and 5.1 seconds for the convertible, with top speed electronically limited to 155 mph. The sticker price for the USA market will be released at a later date and it is expected to be less than $50,000 for base version.
Apart from the ‘S’ insignia, TTS highlights include LED strip daytime running lights, a redesigned front apron with larger air intakes, aluminium-look door mirror housings, deeper side skirts, revised rear bumper that incorporates four tailpipes and new 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the TTS models get Alcantara and leather combination sports seats, exclusive ‘S’ instruments with white needles, metal pedals and special aluminium trim elements.
