The Subaru has launched STI tuned Subaru Legacy STI S402 for sale in the Japanese domestic market. This new limited edition model (only 402 unit to be made) is likely to be only for Japan and will be on sale from June 27th. The price for Subaru Legacy STI S402 station wagon version starts at 5,491,500 yen (US$52,471) while the base model of sedan variant cost 5.355 million yen (US$51,167).

Both available body styles feature the same 2.5L turbocharged DOHC engine as the US and European Impreza STI's and develops 282 hp of power and 392 Nm of torque. All this power is channeled through a six-speed manual gearbox.
To make Legacy STI S402 limited edition special in both looks and performance, it comes equipped with the SI-DRIVE (Subaru Intelligent Drive), a re-programmed ECU plus a chassis upgrade including BILSTEIN suspension. New Subaru is wider by 20mm and gets a carbon-fiber front spoiler along with an exclusive 18-inch BBS alloys wheels and Bridgestone Potenza tires.
The steering ratio has been reduced to 13:1 and brakes upgraded to more powerful Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers in front and two in the rear. Apart from the usual special editon badging, Legacy STI S402's interior comes decorated with a black and dark gray color scheme with leather front bucket seats, the new MOMO steering wheel and an aluminum shift knob.
